Free Hearing Checks for over 50's

The Royal National institute for the Deaf (RNID) is campaiging for hearing checks to become available for the over 60s, at local centres. Their campaign is founded on evidence based research that has found that 55% of people over the age of 60 have some form of hearing loss. Addressing this common problem early can prevent the feelings of isolation and depression that occur as a result of hearing loss.

What's involved?
A hearing check is initially a short 15 minute appointment where we will: -
• Ask you to repeat some spoken words.
• Look into your ears to check for wax and abnormalities.
• Ask you to listen for sounds in each ear and tell us when you hear them.
• Answer any questions you may have.
Once these tests have been completed we will tell you the results. If your hearing is OK we will ask you to come back again in 12 months to be checked again. If we find anything wrong we will make a further appointment for you to have a more comprehensive test.

Already Have Hearing Aids?
If you already have hearing aids it is still important to have your hearing checked regularly to ensure that they are providing you with the optimum level of benefit. In addition to a hearing test we will clean and check your hearing aids free of charge. Adjustments, batteries, accessories and repairs can also be provided at low costs.
