How contact lenses can improve your day-to-day life

Harrold Opticians • April 5, 2019

Now that contact lenses are becoming more and more popular, the question starts to be asked: “are they worth it?” – and the answer is yes. Contact lenses can change the way that you live your life in many ways. We have compiled just a few of the reasons why you should follow the herd and start using contact lenses today:

1. You Can Lead A Healthier Lifestyle

Wearing your glasses all the time can become a bit of an inconvenience and taking part in casual sporting activities and exercise can become annoying if you have to wear glasses at all times, e.g. in sports that require physical contact. Contact lenses give you the ability to focus more on your physical health by allowing you to take part in these activities without the hassle of your glasses getting in the way. Whether you’re into a contact sport like rugby or are more solo sports like track and field – contact lenses stop the restriction of glasses and allow you more freedom to do what you want to do.

2. Improved Vision

If you’re worried that contact lenses won’t improve the level of your eyesight in the same way that glasses do – then you are mistaken. Whilst using contact lenses, your peripheral vision is unobstructed and your vision can be less distorted – therefore, in theory, the amount that you can see is actually increased overall compared to when you wear your day-to-day glasses.

3. Improved Self-Confidence

Although the ‘stigma’ of wearing glasses is slowly breaking, some people still feel uncomfortable wearing them out in social situations. Studies have shown that people who have converted to contact lenses from their glasses are usually more confident in themselves and are more pleased with their appearance. Lenses create a greater sense of comfort which therefore adds to people’s overall confidence.

4. No More Weather Issues

One of the main benefits of using contact lenses over glasses is that they will not fog up in the cold and will not be covered in drops of rain. This gives you the ability to see without having to dry and clean your glasses every 2 minutes. Please note – that we do not recommend wearing your contact lenses in the shower though!
