What is a contact lens exam?
A contact lens exam is a specialised appointment designed to determine if they are the right choice for your eyes and lifestyle. Beyond a standard eye test, we carefully assess your eye health, discuss your vision needs, and ensure your lenses fit comfortably and safely.
What to expect during your contact lens appointment
Your initial contact lens consultation and fitting usually takes around 30 to 45 minutes. Here’s what to expect:
Lifestyle discussion
We’ll begin by asking about your lifestyle to understand how you plan to use your lenses. This helps us recommend the best options for you.
Eye health check
A thorough eye health examination is performed using a slit lamp microscope. Please bring your most recent eye test results (within the last six months) for an accurate assessment.
Lens fitting and teaching
We’ll try lenses in your eyes to check the fit and feel of them. You’ll also learn how to safely insert and remove your contacts.
Taking lenses home
If we have the right lenses in stock, you may be able to take some home the same day. For complex prescriptions or specialised lenses, a follow-up fitting may be needed within a week.
Aftercare appointment
Once you start wearing your lenses, we recommend a follow-up aftercare visit 1 to 2 weeks later to check your progress and eye health.
Who can wear contacts?
We can supply contact lenses for children as young as seven years old, provided they can put in and take out lenses independently. Early fitting is especially helpful for managing myopia progression in children.
Types of contact lenses
Our most popular brands include CooperVision, Ciba Vision, Bausch & Lomb, Acuvue (Johnson & Johnson), and Mark’ennovy. These are available in:
Daily disposables
Convenient, worn once and discarded, no cleaning required.

Longer-lasting lenses requiring regular cleaning.
Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP)
Durable lenses offering sharp vision, often for specific conditions like keratoconus.
Specialist lenses
Including keratoconus lenses, coloured lenses, and others tailored to your needs.

Free trials and fitting fees
We offer free trials for contact lenses. A fee applies when you take lenses home following a successful fitting and instruction session.
Monthly contact lens scheme
We’re in the process of offering a monthly direct debit scheme, making it easier to cover the cost of lenses, appointments, and solutions.
